I am a native of the Sacramento area and I have been a member of the California State Bar Association since 1991. I graduated from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1991, and received a degree from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University in 1988.
After working for several firms in Sacramento, I opened my own office in Roseville in 1997. Although I worked in a number of legal fields from 1991 to 1997, my own practice has been focused on estate planning and probate matters along with chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Being self-employed has given me the flexibility to be a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and also to help coach youth baseball locally.
Estate Planning: I have the freedom to meet clients at my office or in the comfort of the client's home - at no additional charge. After meeting and discussing the client's situation and goals, I can quote a flat fee for preparing the type of estate plan needed. I like to have the estate plan completed within one month of the initial meeting. It is likely that we will have three or four meetings during that period. During our last meeting, we will be signing, witnessing and notarizing the documents - notarizing is included in the fee.
Once I have prepared an estate plan, I do not charge for questions or inquiries by phone, fax, letter, or email regarding the documents nor do I charge for assistance in transferring assets to the estate plan. I welcome the continuing contact with the client - a continuing dialogue assures that the plan will keep pace with changing goals and situations.
I recommend that we meet every three to five years - or when major changes occur in the client's life. Updates and amendments to documents I have prepared do not require a full fee - most of the updates and amendments are a flat fee between $100 and $400.
I regret that I am unable to respond to specific questions from individuals who are not existing clients. I can meet for a free consultation to discuss my services and answer general questions, though I cannot review and comment on existing estate plans without being hired to do so.
Probate: Some administration of some estates is sometimes easy and does not require the assistance of the Superior Court’s Probate Division. Other administrations are more complex and require either a team of experts or the supervision of the Superior Court. I can assist you in determining the most favourable and least option for handling the process.
Bankruptcy (Chapter 7): I can assist and guide your through the difficult process of preparing and filing a request for discharge of debts – Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. I will communicate with your creditors and represent your before the United States Bankruptcy Court. Rely on me to make the process easier and less stressful.
